Don’t mind me if you see me reading your archives, after reading this post (thanks for linking in your one year post), I have FOMO from not having been on Substack a year ago.

Hahaha that's some serious FOMO if you're following lots of Substacks! I'm glad you're reading archives, lots of great writing is hidden in people's archives!

I loved the book of Wild and enjoyed the film too. I have only watched Eat, Pray, Love (a couple of times). Both are uplifting in so many ways. I always saw myself as a fiction writer - I have so many ideas and a very overactive imagination, but I haven’t done it yet - only messed around a bit. And now I find myself writing from my life. There’s quite a lot of relatable stuff for me to write about. But I feel I can also put my life experience into fiction too. I hope anyway.

We can learn alot from the stories from life people share. My interest is piqued.

So much! I swear when I watched that movie I was about to fill a backpack and just go lol. There's such beauty in the stories of humans.

Kristi, I think my blog newsletter has turned into part memoir. I always want my readers to leave with something, but it seems to always involve a story from my life. The way I look at it Stuff happens to us, we react and lessons are learned, why not share?

I agree 100%. My stories always come from personal experiences. I think that's why I could never write fiction and found it difficult to write for travel magazines when I was a travel writer. I had much better success with my own travel blog...my personal travel stories.

I confess I haven't read "Wild" either, but I sure liked the movie — and I honestly don't think it would have mattered to me if it were fiction or not. I'm one of those who finds great "truthiness" in fiction. As Mark Twain (I think) once said, or sort of said, "Fiction has to make sense; truth has no such obligation."

HA!! We are on the same page. I literally just published a Medium piece about how much I hate social media.

As usual, thank you for supporting all the random journeys I keep taking people on.
