Yup. It's the roads that make the journey longer!

I thought you would get a kick out of knowing that Jimmy who commented here is an American who lives in Jamaica as well. He's got us beat by far...he's in his 70's and has been living in Jamaica off and on since he was in his 20's! He's got more than 50 years of experience with his magical likkle island. It's a blessing to have connected with him a few years ago!

I can't imagine what he must think of all the change if he's been there that long. Even when I started going in 2003 when there were no boarding bridges at the airport, that soon changed.

Right?! He's fascinating to talk to. He owns property here in Portland and also in Clarendon. I got to spend some time with him in Clarendon last year and it was an unforgettable experience. He has talked with me about how Jamaica has changed in his experience here and it's simply incredible to listen to! He needs to write a book, too!

I bet. I met a few expats like that along the way. It's always fascinating to hear their stories!

Clarendon is an odd place for an expat, hey? Very cool. I considered moving to Malvern or Junction at one point. I dunno, I just loved out-of-the-way places.

He first came to Jamaica and was a teacher at the college in Clarendon, hence why he has connections and property there.

Malvern?? I've never even heard of that place lol. I'm with you...I love out of the way places, too! Such a different vibe than touristy places
