If someone asked me what existence is, I’d sincerely answer: it’s nothing, merely an empty form. A form that lies upon things from the outside, never altering their essence in the slightest.
Thank you for this. I am travelling around my area when I can and am loving it. Finding beautiful scenery and little mindful moments like dew on petals and moss on rocks. It’s all creating magic. 💜
Love this SO much, all of it. Yes, unplugging is divine for a long weekend.
The snow is inviting, and it dampens the noise, so everything feels cosy. Great bathtub pic! But, honestly, I love the one of you outside, all bundled up sitting in the Adirondack chair. with Dezi beside you. It’s the happiest I’ve seen you look in any picture. You’re glowing.
We are (luckily) barely plugged in here as we have very floppy cell reception in our house. I took working remotely quite seriously and couldn't imagine anything but!
I'm wondering---how many trips in and out of the bathtub did you have to make to land that shot? Or did you do a time lapse? Ha. As someone who fiddles a lot with photos, I can appreciate such things.
Have a royal, spoiled day, Kristi. I hope Dezi whittles you somethin' real pretty.
"have I ever gone away from civilisation to disconnect?" Had to laugh, yes that's my life. I always joke to my hubby, "people pay good money to live in places like this you know" although we don't have the beautiful bathtub and amazing snow you do in those pictures 😍
BTW, I spent my 50th in a manor house in Dingle, Ireland. I read and read and read. My hubby found a country band to have his pints. But me I did nothing but read.
Happy birthday Kristi! I am about to do some disconnecting myself for a couple days. Something we call “no screen days”, turning off everything screen, including smart watches. I am looking forward to it. There is so much power in disconnecting. Thanks for sharing your adventure 🙏🏼
There was something so beautifully calm and cosy about this post. "Everything will work again if you unplug it for a while. Including YOU" - such truth! Happy birthday Kristi.
Happy birthday! My dream was to spend my 30th in Tumbuktu. My boyfriend and I were in Mali and the date was approaching so we looked into tours, but the only thing we could find was a couple of Canadians (coincidence!) who had booked a 4WD and had two spare seats, but they would be there a few days beforehand. I swiftly changed my dream to "I want to have been to Timbuktu before I'm 30" and off we went. When my actual birthday arrived, I awoke on the roof of a house made of earth in a non-famous village on the edge of the Sahara and watched a huge bank of storm clouds roll in. I stumbled downstairs into the shelter and some guy was sitting there watching the horizon. He held out a joint to me and I took it and sat down without a word. My boyfriend returned from the outdoor amenities and the three of us watched as rain pelted the desert for about an hour. I have no pictures at all and I seldom tell the story, but it was a birthday morning I'll never forget.
I live west of Caroline, AB so I'm pretty much living the dream. (Yet here i am on my phone 🤔) It really is all you describe. Or can be, when i remember to be grateful and appreciative. Disconnecting helps with that.
Oops, this is what i get for not having any notifications enabled. Sorry.😬
We're at the edge of the foothills, not as dramatic as Calgary's scenery, but so much backcountry is *right there* for the exploring. Camping, hiking, quadding etc. It feels so close to the wild. Banff and Canmore have gotten so fancy. Caroline is just plain hillbilly country. 😄 (and proud of it i think).
I suggest Ram Falls for a day trip. Or, I'm 5 minutes from Phyllis Lake and it's just the prettiest little lake for SUP boarding and chilling.
I’ve never heard of Ram falls nor Phyllis lake. Thank you for the tips, I’m always down for a road trip with my dawg.
And you’re right, Banff and Canmore are not quaint anymore. They’re just plain crowded and meh. I do get to Canmore often but never returned to Banff since Covid had the streets all deserted.

Perfect timing!!! I just found you with my new account and exactly the message I needed to hear. 🙏
Awww nice...I love serendipity!

DV, that sounds lovely to me 😊 I used to think I needed to get on a plane to experience the magic of travel but really, it's everywhere we look!
It truly is 💜

🤣🤣 No trips in and put. I was using a remote. If you look closely you can see it in my hand 😁
Smart! Calgon, take her away!

You're fortunate! I guess everyone has something other people want. But this cabin would be my end game 😁
Happy Birthday :)
Happy Birthday! Disconnecting is important.

Omg that sounds amazing. I don't even know what an Irish manor looks like but I'm Googling now!
They call it an inn.
How quaint 😊

Benay, that's a fabulous idea if you're not able to go to the woods. I love it. Sounds sublime 👌
Happy Birthday, Kristi!
Thanks Karen!
Ohhh dear friend! Happiest of Kristi Days to you!!! 🎉 💕
this place looks absolutely lovely, I must visit it sometime as I love the snow and cold.
I’m so glad you took pictures and video to share. It makes me feel even more connected to you.
You are definitely one of the human highlights of 2024 for me. So glad we cyber-met. ❤️
100% back at you Karen, and thank you. This year has been good to me in so many ways and you're on that list.
If we ever have a Canada link up I'll take you to the mountains for sure!
Let’s just make that happen some day… 😍

Thank you so much Sascha. Even as I reread it I wish i could go back and disappear into that tub and those snow drifts. It was calming indeed.
Happy birthday! It’s mine soon, too, and it’s no surprise to discover that you’re also a Sagittarius! ♐️ you got the vibe 😜
Ha! Well then, happy birthday to you as well, Sag sista!!

That sounds incredible!! Sometimes (especially in travel) less planning is more because the universe always drops gifts in front of us.
I have a time lapse of a magical sunrise I watched on one of my birthday mornings. Your story reminded me of that.
Sweet, Kristi! And Happy Birthday to you!
Thank you!

Laura, I'm in Calgary. Never been to Caroline. Is it amazing?
